The buzz around The Game Awards reached a fever pitch, notably after presenter Geoff Keighley shared a mysterious image of a strange statue. The mystery has been revealed. Larian Studios is developing a fresh Divinity game.

Announced as Divinity, the game was debuted with a bold trailer featuring striking imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to an orgy and the literal opening of infernal gates.

Not the Expected Sequel

For those hoping for Divinity Original Sin 3, prepare for a surprise. The studio warned that a direct sequel to its beloved RPGs is not on the cards right now.

However, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a next chapter of the core franchise. This distinction implies that the team might be designing a faster-paced experience as opposed to another tactical title. For now, we can only guess, as only a teaser video is available.

What Makes Divinity Special

The Divinity series is universally respected and many say it sparked the contemporary revival of complex computer role-playing games. These games are known for intricate stories, choice-driven narratives, and deep class systems—elements that recently were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.

While its world is classic fantasy, what truly sets Divinity apart is the immense freedom granted to the player.

Where many modern RPGs have pared back options, Divinity is brimming with unique possibilities only possible with a particular class or origin with a specific history of choices.

The series is also notoriously open-ended, allowing players to find creative solutions both in story and combat. Nearly every quest can be approached in multiple ways, frequently in lateral fashion.

• You might progress the story because you heeded something a dog told you.
• Or, you could bypass a challenge by moving environmental hazards in a inventive way.

The Journey Continues

It is precisely these elements that allow people to declare games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games in history. Now, fans can anticipate another adventure in this legendary franchise.
